The Yacht Club

Sunset on the docks
They're all inside, watching golf and drinking scotch
I pause to take a watercolor picture
Best watercolor I've ever done
A celebration of life
Free of tears, cheap religion, free of strife
Gotta say goodbye to a friend old and true
Gotta say farewell to make room for someone new
So goodbye old friend, hello the new
And in my bed, the tears finally come
Waves of catharsis glowing like the sun
I understood some simple truths that day
And I wouldn't want to have it any other way
It wasn't long before I told you how I felt
Before I told you how I figured all this out
And no-one else has heard it to this day
When friendships falter, the memory remains
So goodbye old friend
Yeah goodbye old friend
Oh farewell old friend, hello the new

Yep
03:21
|
|||
Yep
Put so much in and get so little out
A whisper to my final desperate shout
Oh yep
I know it was the best that you could do
But I hope you know the pain that put me through
Yep
Seared into a dark place in my mind
A little word I'd rather leave behind
Oh yep
Give me just a little more hon, just a little more.
C'mon and give me just a little more hon, just a little more, just a little more
Oh give me just a little more hon, just a little more, just a little more
Give me just a little more hon, just a little more, just a little more
And I know that you were trying to pull away
And I know I shouldn't have tried to make you stay
But I didn't have the strength to take that step
And you're too weak to give me more than yep

Exhibit - Eclipse
03:22
|
|||
Well we went downtown
to see the exhibit
And its been such a long time
since you've paid it a visit
And we wandered around
just you and me, together
All the others were a blur
Can we wander here forever?
Could we wander here
and ponder fear
and wonder why life is so confusing
What are we doing anyhow?
Well things seemed pretty good
at that moment, don't you think?
A beautiful steamship
sailing smooth, but soon to sink
And all the little engineers
they couldn't tell you what went wrong
So I'm mulling it over
as I sift through the lyrics of this song
Could we wander here
and ponder fear
and wonder why life is so confusing
What are we doing anyhow?
Could we
Maybe
Just wait
And see
Take it easy, now
Take it easy now
Well we went downtown
Well we went downtown

Unwound

Jealousy
Now that's something that I haven't felt so often before
Irrational
It don't matter that I know it, 'cause I still can't ignore
Foolishness
I'm the surefire first place, yeah I take the award
Paranoid
Don't get stressed too often, so it's shaking my core
So get out of here,
get out of here,
get out of here,
don't wanna find out that you know any more
Cause you're getting close,
yeah you're getting close,
you're getting close,
but I'm close yeah I'm closer
Understand
The best intentions don't mean shit if they're misunderstood
Out of hand, going mad
And I don't wanna switch it off, but I probably should
Happiness
You give it to me but that doesn't really make me unique
Wondering
If you'll find something to enjoy deep within the real me
And I might be wrong,
and I might be wrong,
and I might be wrong,
but its unlikely its unlikely uh
And I want your focus,
and I want your focus,
please give me your focus,
I can take it, I can take it uh
Is that a thread I see,
is that a thread I see,
is that a thread I see,
laid bare, laid bare, laid bare?
Have you ever been,
have you ever been,
have you ever been,
have you ever been unwound?
Tell me have you ever been,
have you ever been,
have you ever been,
have you ever been unwound?
Tell me have you ever been,
have you ever been unwound?
Have you ever been unwound?

Type A
02:54
|
|||
When I was young, I knew a man
who drove my mother crazy
With lists and plans and minute hands,
you're efficient or you're lazy
It used to drive me up a wall,
but these days it don't phase me
Don't write it off, just write it down,
methodical, not hasty, yeah
So he's a litte type A?
Well that's okay
Because I know he's looking out for me
tomorrow and today
So he's a little uptight?
Well that's alright
Cause in the end he's just a friend
with too much on his mind, yeah
Business man, out of hand,
working too hard for his wages
Planners filled up to the brim,
pages after pages
Oh when was your last holiday,
it seems like it's been ages
So stand on up and bust on out
of your self-made paper cages, yeah
So he's a litte type A?
Well that's okay
Because I know he's looking out for me
tomorrow and today
So he's a little uptight?
Well that's alright
Cause in the end he's just a friend
with too much on his mind
And it might not quite align
with my philosophy
I like to clear my slate
and keep my schedule free
But if it helps the man
to put his mind at ease
I'll write a million little notes
to remind me
So he's a little type A

Three Wise Men
02:52
|
|||
Will you come check on me?
To make sure I'm not sleeping on the roof tonight
Will you come check on me?
To make sure that those old bed bugs don't bite
Will you come check on me?
Because the darkness causes such a fright
Will you come check on me,
will you come check on me tonight?
Will you come wrestle me?
I can't pin you, but I love to try
Will you chase after me?
Because one day I'm gonna learn to fly
and be a superhero,
or a power ranger,
or a jedi knight
Will you come wrestle me,
even if you're not so spry?
Will you come draw with me?
You got me started down that road
Will you go fish with me?
With that old tacklebox you owned?
Will you watch over me?
Cause you're the hardest, truth be told
And I'll remember you
and all the summer lawns I mowed

Poor Little Critter
02:15
|
|||
Well you were skipping around,
minding your business,
when you saw a fellow fall off a cliff
You rushed over to see
if the man was alright,
but you moved too fast and you tripped
You caught on to a branch,
and held on for dear life,
but soon you were losing your grip
And along came a bag
with some big garden shears,
and your poor little branch got clipped
Oh you poor little critter,
well that's just the way it goes
And what happens next,
well this time no-one knows.
And you cursed as you fell,
as the man fell as well,
and he landed in the water below
And you wondered how he
could be swimming so calm,
and he shouted "Just go with the flow!"
And your thoughts
they were floating along as you fell
and before long you started to glow
And when you crash down
in the water below
then I'm sure that you're gonna feel whole
Oh you poor little critter,
well that's just the way it goes
And what happens next,
well this time no-one knows.
Oooh enjoy your ride down,
Oooh enjoy your ride
Oooh enjoy your ride down,
Oooh enjoy your ride
Oh you poor little critter,
well that's just the way it goes
And what happens next,
well this time no-one knows. (x2)

Blue Wildflower
03:56
|
|||
Real and vibrant
My own blue horizon
Kissed by the sun
The moon casts shadows as we run
Spend our mornings in the cornflower fields
Do I seem sad?
Because I was then, but no longer
Do I seem glad?
Because right now, I'm content to be
content to be
Kissed by the sun
The moon casts shadows as we run
Spend our mornings in the cornflower fields (x2)
Well I let these chords consume me
And with clarity, they wiped the clouds away
And now fields of blue await me
And you'll find I'm not the kind to hesitate
Kissed by the sun
The moon casts shadows as we run
Spend our mornings in the cornflower fields (x3)

Questionnaire
04:38
|
|||
Have you ever given a gift you made someone,
but didn't really like?
The sort of thing you worked real hard on
but just didn't turn out right?
And have you ever given a gift so perfect that
you know you'll never top?
Something unique that shows you care,
like a bat-house, or a painted garden rock?
Do you have a favorite dream,
and do you have a favorite nightmare?
Do they ever re-occur,
or was it just a memorable scare?
Do you like the mystery of a dream
you wake up from, and soon you wont remember?
Or do you like the ones that are so outlandish,
you'll hold onto them forever?
Tell me have you ever kissed somebody in the rain,
and felt truly content?
And do you think it's bad if you think you have,
but can't remember where or when?
Have you ever kissed somebody while you're crying,
cause you're happy or you're sad?
And is one more poetic than the other,
and if so, then which ones that?
What's the angriest you've ever been
at someone that you care about a lot?
And do you think that they deserved it, and did you
show them how you felt, or did you not?
Have you ever been so mad you've said or done some things
you wish you could take back?
Or did you bottle up those feelings til your soul
is getting heavy, feeling black?
Have you ever felt a hole because
you lost something that was a part of you?
And did you feel it slipping slowly off,
or did it tear away out of the blue?
And were you feeling empty for some time,
feeling it could never be replaced?
Or did you fill that hole up quickly
with the comfort of a new and friendly face?
Oh its just a little questionnaire,
and I'll pretend that I don't care
if you answer it or not
But I'll be wondering what you thought
And what you're gonna say,
and what you'll hide away,
and what you will reveal,
and how you're gonna feel,
and if you're gonna know,
and if its gonna grow,
and if I'm just a fool,
and if so well that's cool
So I'll let patience have its day
Probably the wise choice anyway
Its just a little questionnaire
just to show you that I care
Its just a little questionnaire

Irving & The Axolotls Cleveland, Ohio
Loren and I are friends from Cleveland, Ohio. We've worked with each other (and other friends too!) to make music as a hobby for several years now. These projects are mostly for fun, but they also provide a great outlet for us to share and discuss music with other friends and archive the stuff we've worked on. ... more
